End-of-show report ComVac

Compressed-air and vacuum technology is the key to cost-effective production. ComVac functioned as a central shop window for this sector of industry. 160 exhibitors came together in Halle 26 in order to present the latest products and solutions. There was considerable interest in variable-speed pumps and compressors that adapt flexibly to changing demand patterns. In addition ComVac featured numerous novel solutions designed to deliver sustainability and energy efficiency - for example, optimized compressor components; combined refrigeration dryers and absorbers; thermal energy recuperation systems; new encapsulated motor designs for rolling-piston vacuum pumps; and a new power transmission concept in which the motor and compressor are mounted on a single shaft by means of friction-free active magnetic bearings.

Manufacturers of compressed air and vacuum equipment are cautiously optimistic about the future. The growing shift towards renewable energy in general (and photovoltaics in particular) is expected to generate additional demand in coming years.
