Everyone thinks electric cars are kinder to the climate. But if the electricity required to drive one of these vehicles comes from a coal-fired power station, its CO2 credentials are in fact no better than a conventional car. Aretana Solar will be unveiling a world first in this field at HANNOVER MESSE 2012. The company's independent SolarCarport means electric vehicles can now be charged up in a truly ecological way.
All common standard photovoltaic modules can be attached to the port's flat roof. The battery units are integrated into the concrete supports, with charging points being located in the steel structure. A standard double SolarCarport is thus transformed into an electricity filling station that can charge up two electric cars or up to 20 ebikes.
