In Europe, China and the USA, electromobility is a vehicle for high hopes. The political and economic spheres are pushing it forward with all their might. "But the key to electromobility's success lies in collaboration between industry sectors and social promoters," Frese affirmed. "We provide the right environment for networking these different players in Hannover."
As the leading trade show for hybrid and electric drive technologies, mobile energy storage and alternative mobility technologies, MobiliTec serves as an important annual platform for this future market. More than 150 exhibitors present new technologies and developments here as part of HANNOVER MESSE 2012. The Honorary Chair of MobiliTec, Prof. Henning Kagermann, chairs the steering committee for Germany's National Electromobility Platform (NPE) and is President of the German Academy for Technical Sciences.
The E-Motive joint stand and its 20 exhibitors are a highlight at MobiliTec. Cross-sector exchanges are promoted between vehicle and mobile machine manufacturers, their supplier industries, mechanical and facilities engineering and electrical engineering. Electrical drive trains are center-stage. Whether combined with a combustion engine or fuel cell, or exclusively battery-operated, these systems essentially consist of an electric motor, power electronics, the controller and a storage or buffer unit for electrical energy.
"The future success of electromobility is heavily dependent on whether manufacturers manage to develop cheaper energy storage that is more efficient and takes up less space," explained Oliver Frese. "This is why we designed the energy storage expertise center for MobiliTec." Batteries are the focus here - the preliminary process phases, mechanical and facilities engineering, manufacture of cells and modules, all the way to assembly into battery packs.
The MobiliTec user forum promotes dialogue between manufacturers and suppliers, where new trends and the latest applications can be discussed. The forum is organized by Deutsche Messe together with the German Federation of Energy and Water Management (BDEW), German Solar Mobility Federation (BSM), German Engineering Federation (VDMA), and German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (ZVEI).
