The share of renewable energies in the energy mix is rising steadily. In Germany, more than a fifth of all electricity already comes from renewable sources. The Energy trade fair is developing just as dynamically as renewable energies. The number of exhibitors in the field has grown almost tenfold in the past few years. "And of the more than 100,000 experts who visited Energy 2011, half expressed explicit interest in renewable energies," added von Hubertus von Monschaw, President of Energy at HANNOVER MESSE.
What solutions will assure a secure, efficient, sustainable and competitive energy supply? And what will the energy mix look like when we abandon nuclear power completely? These are key questions that more than 1,000 exhibitors at Energy are working to answer. "The current transformation of the energy market is an historic occurrence," said von Monschaw. "Exhibitors will be reacting to these changes, and putting forward solutions for a secure and affordable future energy supply at the Energy tradeshow."
The sector presents high-tech products and services for hydropower, solar and bio energy, geothermal energy as well as wind power in Hall 27, the Energy Mix hall.
The Renewables exhibition section is accompanied by expert discussions at the Renewable Energies forum. Industry developments, technology trends, financing concepts and the political environment are explored here. The 2012 theme is the implementation of the energy transition, following current decisions by the German government embodied in the Renewable Energies Act (EEG) and the Renewable Energies Heat Act (EEWG). Speakers are high-ranking representatives from companies and scientific institutions, associations and government ministries. The forum takes place against a background displaying information about the topics under discussion. It is organized jointly by the Bundesverband Erneuerbare Energie e.V. (BEE) and Deutsche Messe.
