Trucks and buses will drive electrically and automatically in future - that is something Daimler AG is sure of. In Germany, Mercedes-Benz Vans together with Amazon Logistik , innogy , Fahrzeug-Werke LUEG AG and Lab1886 are testing integrated logistics solutions at Amazon's distribution center in Bochum. The medium-sized eVito electric vans are used there on the last mile. In Portland USA, Daimler Trucks & Buses is establishing a research and development center for automated driving that will work closely with R&D at the Daimler Trucks locations in Stuttgart and Bangalore to develop, test and validate automated vehicles.

Daimler Trucks is also merging the Group's worldwide expertise in electric drives for commercial vehicles into a new e-mobility group (EMG). Along with the brand-new, all-electric heavy-cargo truck Freightliner eCascadia and the medium-weight Freightliner eM2, the company also presented two new e-trucks that will be available in 2018 and go into series production as of 2021 - in competition with the Tesla Semi , which is scheduled to go into production in 2019.
