Drones are booming and increasing demands are thus being placed on the devices. Lightweight construction, which reduces power consumption, could be one of the ways to extend flight times. The Cologne-based LANXESS Group has developed s pecial plastics for this purpose. They have good rigidity and strength along with a comparatively low weight. They apparently also reduce the vibrations and noise generated as well as the interference of metal materials with radio signals.

According to estimates by German Air Navigation Services (DFS), about 600,000 drones were sold in Germany in 2017, and the trend is rising; that's why DFS has already developed a safe drone flight app . According to the Gartner market research institute, almost three million drones were sold worldwide last year. The unmanned aircraft are used for a wide range of purposes, including security, agriculture, transport and of course leisure time. Statista forecasts global sales of $2.4 billion in 2020 for commercial drones alone.
