From 25 to 29 April 2016 the Lightweight Forging Initiative will be showcasing the latest lightweight forging themes at Hannover Messe. The Massive Forming topic cluster will touch on the diverse research findings and activities of the association in this field. At the customary location in Hall 4/Stand E42 participating companies will showcase the latest trends and developments involving material and resource efficiency.

The Lightweight Forging Initiative - a consortium of 28 companies from the massive forming and steel manufacturing sector ( www.massiverleichtbau.de ) - will showcase the weight-saving features of its massive-formed steel components for automotive vehicles.

"This initiative has a lightweight design potential of 99 kg in the power train and chassis of a lightweight commercial vehicle weighing up to 3.5 tons."

Dr. Theodor L. Tutmann, Managing Director of the Lightweight Forging Initiative

This is an excellent result. Now suppliers and OEMs as well as Tier 1 suppliers need to work together to find out which lightweight design ideas, including cost-effective solutions, are feasible. As a supplier we can make a substantia contribution to improved efficiency and economy in products and systems."
