Sensors and sensor systems are a key technology with good growth rates in the industrial location of Germany. A member survey of the AMA Verband für Sensorik und Messtechnik e.V. (German AMA Association for Sensor Technology and Measurement Technology) revealed that this industry is booming. In 2017, it recorded an increase in sales of 9%. Further growth by another 8% is expected for the current financial year. In view of the positive forecasts, 80% of the surveyed companies plan to increase their technical personnel resources. In addition, the mainly medium-sized members of the association plan to increase their investments by around 13%.

Although sensors and measurement techniques are now used in almost all areas, including mechanical engineering, safety technologies, and Industry 4.0, the potential is far from exhausted. From AMA Managing Director T homas Simmons ’ perspective, they will become even more important and decisive for the development of innovative technical products.
