Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hans-Jürgen Pfister from the KEA - Competence Center for Electronics & Drives at the Osnabrück University of Technology, together with his co-operation partners, is presenting two highly innovative, directional research projects: a novel battery storage system and a bi-directional rapid charging column that can be used as an energy storage device Current or AC battery - can be used as a large storage facility in the industry or on the grid, as well as a district storage of residential units that can store excess energy from solar plants for later use. The AC battery also has its advantages in electromobility. If a cell is defective, it is no longer necessary to replace the entire current storage. The AC battery is more efficient, more flexible and more reliable than conventional batteries.

In the case of the bidirectional rapid charging column, an electric vehicle serves as an energy store and can absorb energy or, if required, discharge it.
