Description

Evaluation results of a 5G air interface for ultra reliable communication of robots are reported as gained from a mobile HUAWEI-FESTO demonstrator. The impact of communication delay and reliablity on the performance of closed loop control algorithms running in the cloud is analyzed. Outlook is given on applications for cloud based synchronization of multiple cooperating robots.

Summary:
Proof of concept and new requirements of 5G air interfaces for smart connected mobile equipment have been evaluated. Realtime, ultra low latency closed loop control requirements have been met.
