Corporate cultures create order and orientation, stability and continuity in the sense of tradition, reduce the complexity in the sense of routine and generate significance. Furthermore, the corporate culture facilitates cooperation within the company as well as the adaptation to external changes and influences motivation and identification. Subsidiaries of globally active companies are often in conflict between the homogenization of a uniform, "universal" corporate culture and the preservation of country-specific characteristics. One of the challenges is to define universal codes of conducts.
