Digital product models are a prerequisite for Industry 4.0 and IoT applications in order to manage products over their complete life cycle. Digital product models enable the integration of the development of mechanics, electronics and software components of the product. In production data from the technical processes are acquired and added to the product model. During usage and service digital product models facilitate the support of augmented reality applications to support users and service technicians.
