The utilization of renewable energy for the production of chemical products is of increasing interest in the context of sustainability. Especially the high temperature electrolysis (SOEC) offers several advantages for the coupling with a subsequent synthesis reaction like Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, namely the high efficiency and the potential for heat integration. The current research status on high-temperature electrolysis at IKTS is presented. The implications of the integration into a chemical production process are discussed with help of modeling results on different process concepts. Especially, the advantages of a direct syngas production via co-electrolysis are highlighted.
