In the light of increasingly flexible production processes automated identification and inspection procedures are becoming more and more important. In this context, machine vision makes an essential contribution: Surfaces of work pieces can be inspected precisely; faulty parts can be identified reliably and then sorted out early in the production process.

This presentation uses several application examples to discuss the performance of machine vision in automated production contexts as well as customer benefits by using standard software.

MVTec's internationally renowned standard software products HALCON and MERLIC offer a broad variety of corresponding technologies. HALCON's surface-based 3D matching, for example, allows for a robust pose determination even for smooth objects without prominent edges. MERLIC also offers a variety of tools for standard vision tasks such as measuring, which can be configured user-friendly and flexibly.
