At the Rhine Waal University of Applied Sciences biomimetics is brought to life in practical machines. Sensor systems based on the lateral line of fish make possible fine control in complex flow. Biomimetic propulsion systems propel small robots and a unique racing submarine. Even plants provide inspiration for development: artificial kelp beds are being developed to extract energy from flowing water. RWU offers exciting opportunities to study such biomimetic principles.
