You need reliably data in order to be able to plan, control, monitor logistical processes precisely as well as identifying critical components within the process. In order to make the deployment and tracking of ground conveyors more transparent and efficient, localization technologies developed by Fraunhofer IIS are used. Furthermore, to optimize warehouse processes, Fraunhofer together with industrial partners like Jungheinrich AG developed a smart tool for indoor forklift positioning based on the awiloc® positioning technology from Fraunhofer IIS. Every ground conveyor is therefore equipped with a smartphone that receives the signals from Bluetooth transmitters in the warehouse. A web application is used to find individual vehicles and the data is analyzed in order to draw up improved logistic concepts. The benefits of this solution are its ease of installation and low cost, as well as the fact that it can be used variably with all vehicles types.
