Description

The Composite Technology Center of Airbus in Stade developed a high performance robot gripper and assembly system made of fiber reinforced plastics in collaboration with the Audi AG, VW AG and the Laboratory for Manufacturing Technology of the Helmut Schmidt University/University of the Federal Armed Forces of Germany in Hamburg. The aim is the substitution of the previously used profiles and elements of the EGT kit (Euro Greifer Tooling), which is made out of aluminum and steel. Due to the weight reduction at the robot systems the flexibility as well as efficiency of the production can be increased significantly.
