Description

- Changeable manufacturing systems

- Changeability requires interoperability

- Interoperability requires open standards

One of the challenges for Industrie 4.0 IT architecture is the ability to adapt to changes – whether new machines or production processes are introduced into the system or existing production systems are changed, e.g. because an additional product variant needs to be manufactured. We call this ability changeable information technology – it relates not just to the physical level, but also and increasingly to software.
