Description

Creating models once and using them throughout the product life-cycle - this vision has been stated often, but has failed so far due to the combined demands of its use cases. For design, simulation has to make use of the exact 3D geometry and deliver high-quality results e.g. regarding contacts with friction. For virtual reality, interactive virtual prototyping, virtual commissioning and training, simulation has to be real-time capable, and cover scenarios of relevant size. The presentation shows how modern tools based on multi-body simulation are up to this challenge and thus enable integrated engineering - by allowing the generation and use of simulation models in CAD, and letting them be re-used in Virtual Reality or Augmented Reality e.g. in Unity3D.
