Description

The presentation gives an overview of attack vectors in the production environment.

Subsequently, different security-measures and protection approaches are shown, corresponding to today’s state-of-the-art. After that, three strategic tools are shown and explained in detail: First, it will be explained what a data diode is, and how it can help increase the company’s cybersecurity level by means of galvanic isolation to control the communication streams, without blocking the transparent data flow, which is necessary for effective production.

The second proposed solution describes, why and how a rendezvous server is part of a secure and effective remote-service-strategy. Lastly the presentation will take a look at how firewalls can be used effectively and explain the difference between an (IT-)firewall and an industrial firewall and why it is particularly important to employ a firewall that is specifically designed for automation professionals, when used in an OT-Environment.
