Within the Reference Architecture Model Industrie 4.0 (DIN SPEC 91345 RAMI4.0) mappings to a service-oriented architecture (SOA) are referred to, whereby it remains undefined what is exactly meant by the term and the technical concept of a "service". The SOA approach and its technological instantiation in Industrie 4.0 is not yet described. The result of the DIN SPEC 61593 is the specification of a so-called interaction-based architecture (IBA) as foundation for classical
services (such as those of OPC UA) and more recent application-oriented negotiation protocols in Industrie 4.0. Although SOA has been an established technology for years, up to now there is no agreement about its basic concepts applicable to the interaction between Industrie 4.0 components.
This DIN SPEC 16593 proposes a model that contributes to the interoperability in Industrie 4.0 and enables further specifications.
