Factory communication is moving to network Ethernet-based networks because of the lower cost, higher flexibility, and information sharing industrial internet of things (IIoT) technologies provide. This presentation will examine the reality of those benefits and compare them with the quality challenges of moving from circuit to network communication and the inherent threat of increased attack surfaces. The presentation will use real-world examples of data found in networks today and examine actual machine communication that can also be used to continuously improve plant productivity and positively impact the bottom line.
