Ethernet continues to expand its range, functionality and applications with Time Sensitive Networking (TSN). TSN is a set of new features being added to the Ethernet and IP standards to support the deterministic communication and time synchronization needs of applications including machine control, power generation, oil and gas, transportation, factory automation, and power transmission. The Avnu Alliance is an industry alliance that fosters, supports and has developed an ecosystem of vendors providing interoperable TSN devices for wide availability to consumers, system integrators and other system-specific applications. Avnu Alliance member Paul Didier will present: an overview of the TSN standards and how they fit into an overall system architecture; examples of systems architectures for meeting the requirements of industrial applications and systems; an architecture and examples showing how TSN can provide a foundational support for multiple application protocols.
