Description

This lecture is focused in the important role of Visual Computing Technologies as key enablers of Industry 4.0 and Industrial Internet. We discuss the vision and the impact of the main visual computing technologies (Augmented Reality, Visual Analytics, new HMI, 3D Digital Twins, Cognitive Vision, etc.) for Industry 4.0 and Industrial Internet, with an international perspective, a proposed roadmap, and international relevant initiatives and examples (from Basque Country & Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Portugal, etc.). The talk also shows national and international cooperation projects between industry and research institutions, with real and direct impact in the productivity and efficiency of modern industries. Some of the concepts are based in the work presented in the recent IEEE CG&A article "Visual Computing as a Key Enabling Technology for Industry 4.0 and Industrial Internet" (one of the 5 most cited of that Journal in 2016). Oriented to industrial and innovation related audience
