The Max Bögl Group based in Neumarkt/Oberpfalz is one of the 10 biggest companies in the German building industry. Established in 1929 in Neumarkt, Max Bögl is still a family-run business now in its third generation and produces an annual turnover of over Euro 1.6bn with a worldwide workforce of around 6,000 people.
This company is the market leader in Germany for the manufacturing, delivery and erection of hybrid towers, and holds the record for the highest wind turbine tower.
Max Bögl is breaking new ground with a pilot plant combining wind turbines and pumped storage to further increase the efficiency and yield of wind turbines. It utilises the towers and bases of wind turbines as water reservoirs. These bases make it possible to increase hub heigths by an additional 40 metres. As a result, you can increase power generation from wind energy by as much as 25 percent.
