Combined Heat and Power (CHP) is the simultaneous production of electricity or mechanical energy and usable heat in a single process. It is the most efficient way to generate energy on the basis of fuels, regardless whether they are fossil or renewable. Widespread application of CHP is an indispensable part of climate protection and conservation of natural resources. At the same time the employment effects of CHP are promising. CHP is of an inherently decentralised, local nature and strongly related with local sustainable development policies and actions.
The German CHP Association B.KWK has been launched in 2001 as a non-profit-making organisation with the objective to promote through a broad alliance of all groups and sectors the consequent use CHP potentials.
