Institut für Mikroelektronik Stuttgart (IMS CHIPS) was founded in 1983 and is a trust foundation under public law. It carries out industrial-oriented microelectronic research in semiconductor integration, integrated circuits & systems, MEMS technology, nano structuring and image sensor technology as well as being involved in professional development. The facility being a member of the Baden Württemberg-based Innovationsallianz is partner to various small and medium-scale companies in Baden Württemberg in particular and cooperates with international semiconductor corporations and contractors. IMS CHIPS teams with Universität Stuttgart and is incorporated into the Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering faculties. The facility is also globally at the forefront of process development in the nano structuring field.
