The Macomb County Department of Planning & Economic Development (MCPED) is responsible for implementing the county's economic development strategy. MCPED is structured specifically to create the ideal environment for new business and emerging sectors, as well as to support the breadth of business activities found across the county.

Reporting directly to Macomb County Executive Mark A. Hackel, the mission of the Macomb County Department of Planning & Economic Development is to retain, grow and attract economic investment while improving the overall quality of life for residents and businesses in Macomb County. We accomplish this through four distinct program areas: Economic Development; Land and Water Resources; Planning & Mapping Services; and Outreach & Communications.
