Company profile

As one of the world's largest institutes of its kind IFAS is engaged in research and subsequent knowledge transfer in the field of fluid power. This technical discipline comprises many other fields alongside mechanical engineering like information technology, control technology, electronics, tribology and chemistry. These research activities are allocated to five scientific groups:

- Tribology and Fluid Analysis
- Pump and Motor Technology
- Valve Technology and Mechatronics
- System and Control Technology
- Pneumatics

Further information on the groups current projects, numerous research activities, national and international industrial contacts as well as our personnel is available on our homepage.

Pneumatics

The pneumatics group conducts research concerning the analysis, development and optimisation of pneumatic components and systems. For the realisation of the widespread and often interdisciplinary challenges IFAS provides substantial experience. An integral part is the simulation of pneumatic and electro ...read more

System and Control Technology

TThe «System and Control Technology» group conducts research concerning the dynamic system performance and energy consumption of fluid power drives. IFAS has gathered extensive experience in the mathematical modelling of fluid power components, which provides the foundation for these developments. The ...read more

Tribology and Fluid Analysis

The main research of the «Tribology and Fluid Analysis» group is focused on tribological systems such as hydraulic sealings and bearings. Their materials, surfaces and fluids are investigated concerning their interaction by use of tribometers and oil test rigs. The resulting knowledge is transferred ...read more

Pump and Motor Technology

The «Pump and Motor Technology» group is involved in the research and development of hydrostatic displacement units. Its work is primarily focused on developing new components and improving fluid power drives, e.g. according to efficiency, power density, durability, environmental compatibility and costs. ...read more

Valve Technology and Mechatronics

Research conducted by the «Valve Technology and Mechatronics» group is mainly focused on the development and optimisation of valves, actuators and sensors. Proportional and servo-valves, but also switching valves, which incorporate mechanical components, actuators, and sensors as well as information ...read more

Research and Development in Fluid Power
