First time in 2010: Themed presentation "Lightweight Construction"

Particularly in view of the spiraling prices for raw materials and energy, intelligent lightweight systems are gaining in importance in almost all sectors of industry. Using lightweight materials and the corresponding lightweight construction technologies reduces energy and material consumption, which in turn improves the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the systems and optimizes the functionality and performance of products.

The lightweight materials sector is pivotal to HANNOVER MESSE's position as the world's leading technology fair. There are lightweight construction displays spread across multiple tradeshows in multiple halls at the fair. The "Lightweight Construction" presentation in Hall 6 at the Industrial Supply tradeshow will serve as the central hub and information point for HANNOVER MESSE visitors interested in this area of technology.

  • Solutions Area, hall 6, B14
Applications-focused large-format exhibits illustrate the great potential of advanced lightweight solutions. The exhibits here range from mobility and mechanical engineering, energy through to medical technology.
More information will be available at the beginning of March.
  • Lightweight Construction Guide
The Lightweight Construction Guide is a valuable navigation tool for trade visitors including all the lightweight construction exhibitors at the fair.
More information will be available at the beginning of March.
  • Intelligent Lightweight Construction Materials Forum and Materials Information

Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Prof. E.h. Werner Hufenbach, Director of the Institute for Lightweight Construction and Plastics at the Technical University of Dresden
"The new Lightweight Construction special display at HANNOVER MESSE 2010 sends a signal for the future because tomorrow's products are going to have to make good use of our precious resources. Economic and ecological aspects should not be viewed as mutually antagonistic in product development, but rather as complementary, symbiotic factors.

Material and energy efficiency deserves the highest priority, and this is a mainstay of the Dresden-based model for 'functionally integrated, systems lightweight construction in multi-material design'.

Thanks to the more efficient exploitation of already-available materials as well as the development of new and innovative materials, construction techniques and technologies for lightweight construction products, manufacturers can make a sustained contribution to maintaining and enhancing their competitiveness at the domestic and international level."
