The HUMMEL 15 Series aluminium enclosures are also available with a conductive coating. The coming into force of European-wide Directives on the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of electrical installations has led to an ever-growing demand for components which offer effective protection against the occurrence and emission of spurious radiation. The surface of this HUMMEL EMC enclosure is coated with a conductive powder and thus makes a decisive contribution to this: the surface resistance measured in the testing laboratory (as per DIN 53 482) of up to 1.5 x 106 Ohm attests to its outstanding conductive characteristics. Furthermore the conductive gasket seals specially used for this purpose produce an electrically conducting connection between the lid and the lower section and thus ensure optimum shielding effectiveness. With a thickness of 80 - 120 ?m, this anti-static coating also has the same outstanding corrosion protection characteristics as conventional powder coatings. Using a HUMMEL EMC enclosure thus in many cases makes the use of additional, cost-intensive measures to improve shielding unnecessary, while ensuring the same high level of corrosion protection in difficult environments. In addition, designs resistant to sea water can equally be manufactured.

Its charm lies in its simple and thus time-saving assembly (see illustration). For use under tough environmental conditions (for instance, saline conditions close to the sea) the cable gland can be furnished with a special surface finish (HSK-EMV-D Diamond
