Corrosion-resistant refractory metals such as titanium, niobium, molybdenum, tantalum, stainless steels etc are good base materials due to their good resistance in corrosive media.
Our range of services includes platinum plating refractory metals using high-temperature electrolysis as well as the application of precious metal oxides as part of a time and temperature-controlled conversion process.
We use these electro-catalytically activated materials to mechanically create all kinds of anodes and contacts. High-temperature platinum electrolysis was developed by the former Degussa company in the 1970s, and optimised to create a reliable production process. From then on, anodes for precious metal electroplating were generally made from plated titanium under the brand name PLATINODE®.
Platinum-plated wires and tapes made from molybdenum were also created for the lighting industry. Thanks to thorough optimisation of the application and separation process, it is now possible to create incomparable platinum coatings to an extraordinary quality, making them ideal for use in creating circuit boards and integrated circuitry.
The thermal conversion of halogen-based precious metal connections is used to create electro-catalytic electrode materials for use in electroplating baths, chemical production processes or water preparation. As the active layer is made up of a combination of precious metal and non-precious metal oxides, the layer is called a mixed metal oxide (MMO).
