Product description

Martin Luther University and enfas GmbH collaborate successfully in research around innovative energy storage systems. Among the targeted fields of application, a focus is set on power equipment and the automotive sector. While MLU researchers provide their expertise and infrastructure to work on solid-state energy storage materials, enfas GmbH incorporates the results of scientific groundwork into its highly innovative products. The core competence of the company lies in the develpoment of intelligent vehicle energy networks, self-learning energy and battery management systems as well as holistic AC- and DC-coupled storage systems. The collaboration is currently focused on the development of a novel composite capacitor. This multi-layer capacitor shall combine the advantages of ceramic capacitors like high energy and power density with the advantages of film capacitors like flexibility and practical shaping. New experimental procedures, a feature of the material research, allow the industrialization of innovative components which can be integrated in given structures for special applications. Another essential part of this project is the research on the Capacitor-Management-System (CMS) in the prospective KCap-packages.
In addition, enhanced joint research and development activities towards solid-state batteries are planned for 2017. A new competence center of scientific staff and advanced equipment will be established in the neighborhood of MLU in Halle during 2017.
