Hannover Messe 2017 features the Federal Foreign Office's international and interactive travelling exhibition on the German energy transition, or Energiewende.
With its global network of some 230 German missions abroad, the Federal Foreign Office is the go-to destination for businesses, as well as administration and civil society actors, to obtain information on Germany. Germany's energy policy is one of the most sought-after subjects. The exhibition Deutschlands Energiewende (The German Energiewende) caters to this demand.
A timeline describes the development of German energy policy since the 1970s. Milestones and core issues of the Energiewende are presented at interactive stations. The exhibition describes how Germany is meeting its international responsibilities with regard to sustainable energy policy. It outlines the impact the energy transition will have in shaping a future-oriented, innovation-based economy, and it campaigns for strong international co-operation towards achieving a global Energiewende.
The travelling exhibition Deutschlands Energiewende (The German Energiewende) was inaugurated by the Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs in Beijing in April 2016. Six replicas of the exhibition have since been shown at more than 30 locations worldwide.
