As digitalisation in the manufacturing industry is increasing, current software solutions are unable to provide the level of flexibility that is expected in a digital age. IoT, Smart Production, and Industry 4.0 place high demands on the flexibility of processes and the associated software products. Furthermore, when many unrelated devices are connecting it is important to generate trust between all parties and their processes. A closed system in which changes can be made quickly and with maximum transparency, without the need for third party access would mean that processes can be highly automated, smart, trustworthy, and stable, while maintaining complete control. It may sound impossible, but Blockchain technology is changing the game here. Blockchain is a robust ledger in a distributed peer-to-peer network which is capable of documenting data chronologically. When paired with Smart Contracts, the technology lends itself to this purpose. In the examples of cost allocation, security, and asset management, the benefits of this technology and how and where it can be implemented are illustrated clearly.faizod.ReactiveLedger based on Blockchain technology is a closed system in which changes can be made quickly and with maximum transparency, without the need for manual external access. This means that processes can be flexible, highly automated and also smart, trustworthy, and stable. The user also remains in complete control. The faizod.Blockchain Train showcase illustrates where and under what circumstances faizod.ReactiveLedger can be used. In a closed system in which a train passes through different stations, various scenarios are displayed in the areas of cost allocation, asset management, and security.
