Electric heat pumps (HP) access environmental heat and thus allow highly efficient conversion from electricity to heat. HP are considered a key technology for future heat supply. To limit the required area for renewable electricity generation, the efficiency and integration of HP into the energy system need to be optimized.
For testing of HP and systems at configurable boundary conditions, ISFH is developing a HP test rig. It will allow to test HP with emulated heat source and sink. Testing of HP with heating capacities up to 30 kW will be possible. Relevant scenarios of single and multi-family homes, with consideration of multivalent heat sources (e.g. ambient air, borehole heat exchangers, horizontal ground heat exchangers, solar thermal collectors or combinations of several sources).
