Product description

The software IPS Cable Simulation is the most comprehensive real-time technology for design optimization, digital validation and assembly simulation of flexible components such as wires, wiring harnesses or hoses and has now acquired the technological pole position in this domain.

Due to increasing electrification and new security systems, the quantity of wires and hoses installed in modern vehicles is steadily increasing. Investigations carried out by the automotive industry show that such flexible components are involved in about 25 % of all occurring quality issues.

With the software IPS Cable Simulation, the research institutes Fraunhofer-Chalmers Centre and Fraunhofer ITWM have developed an innovative, user-friendly tool for digital mock-up, virtual assembly planning and design tasks with flexible components. Together with industrial partners, this tool has been optimized for commercial application.

Deformations of wires, wiring harnesses and hoses can be simulated precisely and physically correct in real-time.Therefore, IPS Cable Simulation is the perfect tool for digital mock-up with flexible components.

Today the software is applied in the entire product process. Consequently, virtual feasibility tests and production approval are considerably accelerated. Validated results may be achieved 6 to 8 months earlier than in the past.

The integral validation of concepts and variants significantly reduces the number of physical prototypes and is an approved quality assurance tool in the automotive and commercial vehicle industry, the mechanical engineering domain as well as the aerospace sector.
