Product description

This method is a further development by the University of Applied Sciences in Nordhausen.
The DIN standard »Determination of the water-soluble content of chloride, sodium and potassium in solid waste materials by means of press fluid according to the press method» is an option for the rationalization and quality control as well as a faster alternative to the standard procedures of elution and extraction.
Both standard processes are based on the leaching of the soluble chlorine fractions with water as a suitable differentiation criterion. According to both DIN standard processes, the water-soluble chlorine part equals the content of the inorganic chlorine.
Practical experience shows, that the present DIN standard procedures 12457 and 15105 require considerable financial and time-consuming efforts. After pressing the waste material the extracted liquid can be analyzed immediately given the fact, that the content of inorganic chlorine is homogenously spread in the fluid. Furthermore, the production of representative 100g or 1 g samples required for the elution or extraction is prone to errors. For the pressing sample amounts of about 1 l can be used.

Recycling 2.0-Die Wertstoffwende-Forum

Following the energy transition we aim at a process of rethinking the sustainable raw material supply. To meet the demands of dramatically increasing scarcity of raw materials an enhanced recovery of secondary resources is mandatory. Since primary sources are limited, urban sources are becoming an attractive ...read more

Determination of Chlorine

The chlorine content of refuse derived fuel (RDF) is of particular interest. The high deposition rates of inorganic salts (such as NaCl and KCl) leads to high temperature corrosion making information about the load of bound inorganic chlorine an important indicator for the corrosion potential of RDF. ...read more

Press and drill method

With regard to proper sampling of heterogeneous materials, e.g. secondary raw materials, a new method has been developed at the University of Applied Sciences Nordhausen - the so-called «press-and-drill-method». Due to of the wide heterogeneity of waste streams the characterization of this material is ...read more
