Recording of employee dataTransponder technology (also called RFID; Radio Frequency Identification) is based on an electro-magnetic process and used to read and store data without physical contact. Data are stored on so-called RFID tags - frequently called transponders. An inductive process is used in the low-frequency band, radio in the high-frequency band.The distance at which tags can be read depends on the design (active/passive), frequency band, transmission power and environmental conditions. Depending on the technology used the distance for passive tags varies from a few centimetres to max. 80 centimetres. Active tags can be read up to 100 meters. Even though the chip itself is very small, the size of a tag mainly depends on the size of the antenna (depending on frequency and/or wave length) and its housing (which in turn mainly depends on its protection class).
