Complete system for condition monitoring of rotor blades and for the detection of structural damage or icing

Rotor blades of wind turbines are exposed to extreme environmental conditions. They determine the energy yield and thus the economic efficiency of a wind turbine. Damage must be detected as early as possible so that cost-effective repair measures can be planned and initiated as early as possible. In the event of rotor blade freezing, the system must be stopped in order to avoid increased loads due to unbalance or to protect the environment from ice falling off. Periodically recurring tests are not sufficient for the early detection of damage or ice build-up. Permanent monitoring guarantees greater safety.
