Sigma-7 represents a new generation of Sigma servodrives from Yaskawa. The Sigma-7 portfolio includes amplifiers and motors for 200 V and 400 V in performance classes of between 50 W and 15 kW.
The newly developed amplifier system now provides an integrated interface for EtherCAT, and a PROFINET connection is in the pipeline. The speed control bandwidth has been increased to 3.1 kHz, meaning Sigma-7 offers even greater control performance than the previous series. Further improvements include power ripple smoothing and vibration suppression, ensuring the amplifier can deliver a high level of synchronicity. In addition, the new software design enables each amplifier to be used for both linear and rotary motors. A «tuningless» function makes automatic adjustments depending on the load. This means that a system with an inertial load ratio of 30:1 can run without vibrations. The system can also cope reliably with dynamic load changes.
400 V variant
The 400 V variant of Sigma-7 has been designed specifically for the European market. It offers all the benefits of the 200 V version, with some additions: removable connectors to European standards enable simple and convenient cable wiring. Direct wiring from device to device, or «daisy chain wiring», is also possible. The book-shaped enclosure supports the seamless side-by-side installation of multiple amplifiers in a small space, enabling a high power density in the control panel.
Another area where Sigma-7 offers significant advantages over comparable previous models, is in the extremely efficient motors: Sigma-7 servomotors are up to 20% shorter and heat up considerably less, while delivering the same level of power. Their extremely high encoder resolution of 24 bits is up to 16 times higher than before. In combination with the amplifiers, the new servomotors meet the highest standards for synchronicity and accuracy.
