The Ubisense Smart Factory System is the first location based control system for industrial production. It provides the basis for the optimisation of innumerable manufacturing processes as well as enabling intelligent dynamic autonomous systems in the sense of a smart factory.
The Smart Factory System uses high precision UWB location technology combined with GPS and flexible, highly configurable application software. Production goods, components and equipment are identified, located, tracked and controlled throughout the manufacturing facility with processes being driven dependent on location inside and outside of buildings. The Smart Factory System is different from traditional »snap shot« location solutions in that it delivers a continuous dynamic 3D representation of all critical processes in real-time.
The system is composed of just three elements: active, battery-powered transponders (called tags), sensors and application software. The tags which have a unique identifier and may, for example, be associated with production data transmit location radio signals to sensors, which detect the signals and calculate the positions of the tags several times each second. The Ubisense software stores, processes and displays the location data in real-time for a user as well as generating alerts and control events for IT or shop-floor systems. Many thousands of moving objects and interactions can be tracked and detected simultaneously with the events being generated according to user defined location rules.
