The steel shop of IMA-METAV SA has a technological flow using state-of-the-art equipment as well as a vacuum induction melting furnace, made by CONSARC USA. The capacity is 2500 kg/melt, and includes a vacuum electro re-melting furnace.
1. Vacuum induction melting furnace of 2.500 kg.
2. Vacuum arc re-melting installation of 1.200 kg.
This technological flow guarantees to all our customers a special quality of the products (steels, special alloys, etc.) according to standards compatible with top-fields industries: aircraft, nuclear, medical, military, etc.
The manufacturing process consists of vacuum preparation of the steels or alloys, casting of electrodes, machining and finally the re-melting in the vacuum arc unit. The VAR ingot obtained will be plastically deformed at high temperature using different methods (forging, rolling, etc.) insuring the highest quality of the final product as per specified by our customers:
-Strict control of the melt chemistry (much stricter that the commercial specification requirements);
-This manufacturing flow assures a much superior quality of the final products, as follows:
-Very high purity with a very low non-metallic inclusions, and the optimum morphology;
-Extremely low gas content of the alloy;
-Optimum solidification structure for the hot plastic deformation, having as result the increase of the plasticity of the alloys and steels by 30%.
-Significant yield increase for the final forged bar, giving important economic and qualitative advantage.

Co base alloys: W 2.496, X45 etc.
