Steatite is basically made of soapstone (Mg(Si4O10)(OH)2). Depending on which kind of flux melting agent, steatite is divided in common steatite and special steatite.
Special steatite is less vulnerable to material loss and it is perfect to build HF-components. Steatite is easy to use and can also be used for compents with thin and well-balanced insulation thickness.
To summarize: Steatit combines following characteristics:
- good strength
- resistant to temperature changes
- good dielectrical qualities
- low factor of material loss
- complex components can be produced
