HANNOVER MESSE 2018, 23 - 27 April
Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel
Innovation needs to be learned: Kiel University (CAU) helps its students to pursue their ideas and research questions. Often, ideas lead to specific founding initiatives, start-ups, and ultimately to established companies. Assisting them on this path is Kiel University's Zentrum für Entrepreneurship (Centre for Entrepreneurship, ZfE). At the Hannover Messe 2018, current and former students present their innovative solutions to industry and the public.

Fast charging of electric cars requires a lot of energy in a short period of time. These peak loads lead to bottlenecks in the power grid, and are one of the problems facing the expansion of electric mobility. The many challenges of the energy transition require a flexible and reliable power grid, which can accommodate fluctuations in the consumption and production of energy. A key element of this could be the smart transformer, which is being researched by the Power Electronics working group at Kiel Univer... read more

The research team from Kiel will present its material and its applications at the Hannover Messe 2018. Cooling devices are considered to be power guzzlers, in which polluting refrigerants are still used, even after the ban on chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). An environmentally friendly alternative are systems which use water instead. A research team at the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry at Kiel University, together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE in Freiburg, has developed a high... read more
