Thermoforming is a manufacturing process where plastic sheets are formed into a specific shape. The sheets are heated just enough that they do not melt. Than they are forced onto a mold evacuating the air between the mold and the sheet; thereby creating a vacuum.
After the forming process, the plastic parts are cooled down till they are stable again. Usually the parts are trimmed afterwards to create a usable product.
Thermoformed plastic parts are used for instance in automobiles, trucks, medical equipment, material handling equipment, refrigerators and electronic equipment.
