Over the last two decades, UNIDO has established a rapidlyexpanding network of Subcontracting and PartnershipExchange Centres (SPXs) Centres in Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia,Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. This Networkcomprises 25 active SPX Centres and provides an importantplatform for the matchmaking of suppliers and buyers at thenational, regional and international level.SPX Centres are often hosted in private or public sectororganizations and are equipped with professional capacityto assist enterprises in their development process througha range of support services including enterprise profiling,matchmaking, benchmarking and buyer engagement. SPXCentres aim at extending the local supplier base of majorbuyers, including large foreign multinationals and stateownedenterprises. Procurement needs and local contentplans of buyers are captured and the capabilities of domesticsuppliers are benchmarked for potential matchmaking andupgrading purposes.The respective SPX Centres manage and oversee largefirm-level databases which they leverage to support theinternationalization process of local SMEs. SPX Centresprovide their constituents with dedicated promotion platformopportunities at internationally specialized subcontractingFairs such as the Hannover Messe. Likewise, SPX centres promote foreigndirect investment and technology partnerships with selecteddomestic subcontractors.
