The new HiC2441 universal barrier from Pepperl+Fuchs can detect I/O requirements independently and automatically adjusts to the required signal type. No hardware or software adjustments are required. As the sole isolated barrier, the universal barrier can replace various traditional modules. The new isolator provides maximum flexibility when planning and commissioning equipment, and simplifies the process for storage, maintenance, and any subsequent changes in a plant. The universal barrier is part of the H-System from Pepperl+Fuchs based on the termination board.
The universal barrier enables the termination boards in the H-System to be prewired without having to take signal type into account. It enables the construction of standardized control cabinets, and helps to significantly reduce costs for planning, engineering, and configuration. Switch cabinet layouts can be easily reproduced, so it is no longer necessary to constantly create new wiring plans, power supply calculations, and heating calculations. In addition, the simplified infrastructure with only one barrier type guarantees rapid implementation and project execution, as short-term changes to the system requirements cause only slight delays.
Once a system is in operation, the use of only one barrier type simplifies maintenance and saves on storage costs due to the reduced number of parts required. Configuration errors caused by confusion due to the use of many different barriers are excluded.
It is even possible to migrate a plant control system during ongoing operation, without resulting in periods of downtime or losses in production.
