For more than 40 years now, Südkabel has lived up to its pioneering role in cable technology by successfully using the insulation material XLPE. Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) is the raw material used for producing this insulation. The good thermal properties of cross-linked polyethylene permit a continuous conductor temperature of 90°C. In the event of a short-circuit, it can cope with a brief rise in conductor temperature to as much as 250°C.
XLPE, with its good dimensional stability, is significantly superior to thermoplastic PE.
In conjunction with an intelligent cable construction, our cables enjoy optimum protection: our high and extra-high voltage cables are impervious to external mechanical stresses and moisture.
