Carolin Zinn studied from October 2008 to January 2014 Mechanical Engineering and Management at Paderborn University. Since March 2014, she is a research assistant at the chair of materials science (LWK) of the Paderborn University. In the course of her PhD, she works on a project, which is founded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), the “Priority Program 1712 - Intrinsic hybrid composites for lightweight structures”. Within this project, she deals with the “Intrinsic manufacturing of hybrid structures by resin transfer molding process”. Her main research is focused on the development of a nanoscale laser pre-treatment of steel and aluminum surfaces. The aim of her work is the generation of a durably resistant and high-strength joint between the above-mentioned metal surfaces and a carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) component.
